The Posify Group

E-book – 'IMPACT'

The company

The Posify Group is an Australian organisation sitting at the intersection of humanity and technology, logic and love. The company works with business leaders and their teams to design, develop and deliver purpose-led strategies for impact. Their coaching and consulting services blend human potential and behavioural science to empower organisations with practical ways to build the skills, strengths and values of their people. All with one aim – to tackle tomorrow’s economic, social and environmental challenges.

The task

I was approached by the company’s director, the effervescent Mariane Power, to help them translate and structure a huge body of research from the SingularityUSummit Australia and distil it into an engaging story about change. But what started as a white paper soon turned into a beautiful piece of storytelling – an e-book ‘IMPACT: Into 2020 and Beyond’. I was thrilled to be part of this project.

The book

This book was created amongst a backdrop of environmental, social and political disruption, and it’s a powerful call-to-action in creating a wave of change for the benefit of people and the planet.

‘IMPACT: Into 2020 and Beyond’ sets to answer some vital questions:

-What will the future of work, education and leadership look like?

-How might humans keep apace and maintain their relevance alongside the growth of exponential technologies?

-How and why businesses around the world are shifting toward impact?

-What are the mindset qualities that prepare people for meaningful social, environmental and governance action?

-The qualities of effective leadership that will help people navigate the muddy waters of change?

-How you can start your own impact journey today?

Client testimonial

“At a time where our copy needed a boost of magic, the writing magicians delivered Alex. Despite the short notice, Alex jumped onboard our purpose-driven research project with her big heart and brilliant mind.  Her ability to speak across the languages of logic and love added a layer of sophistication to our project that we, alone, could have only dreamed of. Aside from the fact she’s just an awesome human to collaborate with, we would recommend Alex to anyone looking to inject soul, sensibility and purpose into their next project.”

Introduction: Why now is the time for impact?

When you have a vision or a dream, what is the best way to motivate others to help you bring it to fruition?

In his 1948 book, The Wisdom of the Sands, French author Antoine de Saint-Exupéry writes about a man who wants to build a boat. How does he make it happen? Firstly, he gathers the most skilled craftsmen, but instead of giving them straightforward tasks and instructions, he instils in them a sense of purpose and a vision for the common good.“One man will weave the canvas; another will fell a tree by the light of his axe. Yet another will forge nails, and there will be others who observe the stars to learn how to navigate. And yet all will be as one. Building a boat isn’t about weaving canvas, forging nails, or reading the sky. If you want to build a ship, you don’t herd people together to collect wood and don’t assign them tasks and work, but rather teach them to long for the endless immensity of the sea. Create a community of love.”

We live in an age of global economic fluctuations, social disparities and environmental upheavals. The growth of digital technologies is changing how we work, live, communicate, relax, and raise our families. This period of change has brought with it the ultimate paradox: opportunities beyond humans’ dreams, sitting alongside the global fear of the unknown. We are in need of a common goal that will not only keep us afloat but will also consciously steer us in the right direction.

We believe that organisations are uniquely placed to utilise their power to contribute to such a conscious goal, and we’re not alone in that belief. In August 2019, the US Business Roundtable released a new statement strongly supporting the commitment of businesses to consider the needs of all stakeholders, and affirming the imperative of a shift in mindset that drives business for good:

“We believe the free-market system is the best means of generating good jobs, a strong and sustainable economy, innovation, a healthy environment and economic opportunity for all.”
